A HISTORY OF GIVING


In 1965, the Alpha Charter Guild’s donation to the Antelope Valley Hospital was a single wheelchair for orthopedic patients. In 1978, it was $1,801 for the Coronary Care Unit. Through the decades, the Alpha Charter Guild has met the challenge of the ever-increasing need and cost for medical equipment and services to better the lives of Valley residents.

Earlier this year, the Alpha Charter Guild was proud to present one of our largest contributions, $45, 500 to the Antelope Valley Hospital Foundation.

Below is our history of giving:

  1. Wheelchair for orthopedic patients
  2. Oxygen tent and rocking chair for pediatric patients
  3. Donation for nursing reference library
  4. Donation for purchase of 16 millimeter motion picture projector for in-service education
  5. Donation to be used toward purchase of defibrillator for the Emergency Room
  6. Donation toward purchase of an electronic heart for Resusci-Annie
  7. Donation for purchase of transistorized diathermy unit used for surgical treatment of detached retinas
  8. Donation for purchase of 850 portable heart monitor for Emergency Room
  9. Donation toward purchase of library books for the Medical Library
  10. Donation toward purchase of defibrillator
  11. Donation toward purchase of defibrillator and cassette film, “New Baby Care” for Obstetrics
  12. Donation to furnish a treatment room in Family Practice Center
  13. Donation toward purchase of neonatal monitors
  14. Infanette cabinet, basket and mattresses for Nursery
  15. Joerns Tri-Flex Manual Bed 700 for Pediatrics
  16. All proceeds from Debutante fundraisers have been applied to the ACG pledge of $150,000 made in 1989 for paramedic base station equipment, portable cardiac monitors and additional beds
  17. Funds from the $147,600 pledge paid for an insufflator for surgery, a diabetic teaching process and support of the ACG Family Resource Center
  18. A pledge of $152,500 for automatic x-ray filming processor for the Breast Imaging Center, defibrillator for the Out Patient Treatment Center, and continued annual support of the ACG Family Resource Center
  19. A new pledge of $150,000 for two Giraffe Omnibeds for the Neonatal ICU, a hands-free digital camera for the Sexual Assault Response Team, and continued annual support of the ACG Family Resource Center
  20. Funds raised were used to purchase a Giraffe Omnibed for the NICU, and continued support of the ACG Family Resource Center
  21. Funds raised were used toward our continued support present of the ACG Family Resource Center and the NICU

Through the decades, the Alpha Charter Guild has met the challenge of the ever-increasing need and cost for medical equipment and services to better the lives of Valley residents.

Continuing support of the Women and Infant Pavilion with purchase of several Giraffe Omnibeds and specialty equipment for the neo-natal unit as well as contributing to the ongoing updating of the Family Resource Center. This center provides computer use for new families reference, assistance with care of babies, and has information and products available for family use. Additionally there are programs that offer classes in breastfeeding, Lamaze, and general prenatal classes.
